PATTERN DESIGN
Becki contributed to five issues of Project Calm with various creative elements, from pattern design for pages to hand lettered titles and cover designs. With an entrenched understanding of the Project Calm reader, Becki’s illustrated patterns worked cohesively with the feature’s content as well as appealing to the creative, mindful audience. Each of the patterns were hand painted in Becki’s signature style which perfectly complemented the artistic nature of the magazine which celebrates making.
BRITISH bees
For their feature celebrating British bees, Project Calm commissioned Becki to illustrate all of the accompanying imagery, knowing her style has a natural affinity with their creative readers. The 8 page feature introduced the reader to 12 species of British bees, each illustrated and painted by Becki. To sit alongside these illustrations Becki hand lettered each of the species names in ink. The feature was flanked by beehive and nature illustrations, all conceptualised by Becki and painted in gouache paint. Drawing from her extensive experience of pattern design for Project Calm, Becki also illustrated a full page spread pattern which was used throughout the feature.
